The Haunter of the Dark

This game is based upon the short story “The Haunter of the Dark,” (public domain) written by H.P. Lovecraft in 1935. In it, you play as Robert Blake, an artist obsessed with the occult that is drawn to an abandoned church nearby that holds a sinister past. In this game, you must avoid the church’s cultists, and the titular Haunter of the dark. The haunter is afraid of light, while the cultists cannot see things that are unilluminated. This duality forces the player to constantly choose whether it is safer to hide in light or darkness. In addition, the player can collect fragments of other-dimensional beings and use them to conduct an alchemical ritual, to provide buffs or create other-dimensional tools to assist the player.
